Does this piss any off...

Saturday, we went up to fortress about 10am (in the rain) only to find a group of about 25 from MI with the whole freekin cliff top roped...as if no one else was allowed to climb...

They finally let us use there ropes (only after a threat to pull them down)

maybe I'm just a jerk...

In situations like this take a deep breath and ask, what would Kwai Chang Caine do?

Best solution is three big muddy dogs. Toss pieces of beef jerky into the middle of the groups stuff. Repeat. I also find free soloing in approch shoes right next to the people tr'ing helps as well. A boom box with new kids on the block at full volume?

If they are jerks about it get in line and not allow any others from the group wander over from somewhere else and stand your ground. It's first come first serve and if they are not in line already they have to get behind you in line.

I thought this was about getting rid of people? That's a full on invite to get the party started.

Duh.

It must've been college weekend in the Gorge. There was a group from Earlam parked at the gate on FS 9 and two vans from Indiana Weslayn at Roadside on Saturday.

Make note of were teh groups are from, try and contact the 'trip leader' and maybe we can arm them with Leave No Trace, RRGCC propaganda. Encourage them to spread out once they get to the Gorge. If education doesn't work I like Wes' dog trick!

There was a rather large group from Ohio at Roadside during Rocktoberfest. Worst of all they were on all the routes I had planned to do.

Climb harder and it won't be a problem.

This has happened recently at JacksonFalls in SoIll. If noone's on the rope , pull it and the last person on your rope can trail it and reset as toprope when you move on.
