BC-KY--Forest Supervisor,170
Head of Daniel Boone National Forest to retire
horadl
WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) - The head of the Daniel Boone National
Forest plans to retire next month, a spokeswoman for the U.S.
Forest Service in Winchester said.
Ben Worthington, 54, has worked for the forest service for 32
years. He will retire on Oct. 14, said spokeswoman Kim Feltner.
A native of Portland, Ore., Worthington came to the Daniel Boone
National Forest in 1995. He formerly served as deputy supervisor on
the Bridger Teton National Forest in Wyoming. He spent the first 18
years of his career in the Pacific Northwest.
"I have greatly enjoyed my career with the Forest Service,"
Worthington said in a statement. "The past 10 years on the Daniel
Boone National Forest have brought me into contact with a lot of
Kentuckians which I have found very enjoyable. However, the time
has come to move forward to another chapter in my life."
George Bain, deputy supervisor of the Daniel Boone, will serve
as the acting forest supervisor until a successor is named.

I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.
Good question. I dont' know how the FS system works. I'd say someone already in the DBNF headquarters would move up or they would bring someone in from another Forest. But again I don't know how the 'system' works. Seems like it might make sense to promote from within the district, but then again Ben came from another Forest.

ok you are right. Its not interesting... At all. In fact this thread is bs.
(begining of rant)
You guys should realize that (1) the LAC is bullshit. All it does is get 'user-groups to police themselves and to voluntarily shut down crags. What is it 5 steps and then its over? The FS set up the LAC to save themselves money. Istead of the FS sending out their minions to count people . They talk the users into doing it. Hence they save money. Plus once they close it down they expect the users to police it themselves. Saving more money. on top of that if you violate a closure. You have to pay a fine- if I'm not mistaken, all the fines for the FS violations start at $50,000 and work their way up. But they will trade you some community service instead opf a fine. Thus saving the FS even more money.
(2) They want to make it a fee area (money). So you have to pay to use public property.
(3) you gotta buy a tag to camp in the fee area(money)or you'll be fined(money)
This is me personally, not any one else. If a ranger wants to talk to me. He's gonna have to shoot me.
Ranger"Hey you! Come HERE!!"
Me"Fuck You! PIG!!"
Ranger"Stop or I'll shoot"
Me"I hope you wanna loose weight fatboy, cause that's the only way you'll catch me!!"
Ranger shoots his gun. Missing me completelyall the while killing three innocent bystanders and a squirrel.
So you'll probably see a wanted picture of me in slade.
I would also like to point out a couple of things.
(1) the whole LAC/FS closure problem revolves around money.
(2) Fuck'em. Let them try to close the gorge. If you haven't noticed there is a whole half of a state that just begs to be climbed. No forest service to deal with mostly just private land owners who couldn't give a shit less.
(3) Has anyone taken time to notice how successful Muir valley is compared to The CC. There's a whole littany of reasons for that. Most of them have to do with entrenchment of power and the refusal to give it up. YOu say things have changed...no they haven't...
If the climbers would realize what power they had and actually use it (for posterity and not for selfish ego-trips)
But who am I? I mean they actually elected Mountain Marks Bar-b-que over me. He doesn't even fucking climb but somehow he ended up on the yada yada. Funy how that vote count went. and how they destoyed the slips before any one could protest. But hey, who am I......
