If any of you haven't yet visited Jeff Kennedy's "Crazy Climbers Café" and Hostel, you really should do so.

Words cannot do this place justice. The breakfasts and dinners are honest-to-god five star quality at obscenely low prices. The hostel is super clean, well maintained and has an atmosphere that has to be experienced to be appreciated. Again, words and photos don't do it justice. Regardless of where you've climbed around the country, you will rarely discover a place like this. Included is internet access and a comprehensive library in a warm cozy lounging type atmosphere like one you might find in an upscale Tetons lodge – without the Tetons prices!

You really owe it to yourself to stop by and check out Jeff's REALLY first class operation. You won't be disappointed. Take the Pine Ridge/ Beattyville exit off the Mountain Parkway. At the stop sign, turn right and go about a half mile. You'll see the log cabin on your right.

I suspect I'll be staying when it's cold. Sleeping on a rope isn't getting it anymore. It's much closer to the gorge too. There's no stupid roosters close to wake me at the crack of dawn is there?

i've never stayed there but I stopped by one day and took a tour. the other cool think is there is free Yoga sessions in the monring with Jeff. i'll second that the place has a great atmosphere and is beautiful inside.

Yeah, I taught a yoga class there for them when they first opened and was amazed at how good the food was, how nice the people are and the hostel is super nice (although a little too pricey for me- but I'm a starving college student too.) Everyone should check it out- they even have mtn. bike and canoe rentals.

I have stayed there several times before the fire and once after the fire. Great people, great food, great atmosphere. Hope to be there many more times in the future. Jeff has poured his soul into the place. Like all things you have to support what you like. Check it out. It is first class.

I ate breakfast there a few years ago and there was so much food that I couldn't eat it all.

I have not only stayed/eaten there several times, but had Jeff guide me and some friends climbing. It was the best time I've had in the gorge Yet.
Jeff charges $16.00 dollars a night(minimum) with shower and breakfast. You heard everybody rave about his food, nuff said! I was there a few weekends ago, we were rappelling Half Moon, as we got there a rookie fell off his first rappell. Jeff was called in and set up the rescue, kid made it with only some broken bones.
Jeff is there for the community, be it Climbers, Rappellers, Kayakers,etc...
I have learned more from him in one trip, than all the many many others combined. I too am just a customer, Jeff has earned all this praise ten fold!!!!
Give him a chance and you'll agree, Thanks Jeff.....

I think it is only $14 a night for the main room, isn't it?? I was there for breakfast and I took a tour a few weekends ago. If you want the smaller private room it is $16. I could be wrong. I think Jeff and his wife are great and his food was amazing and very well presented. Hostel is super clean too. He and his wife have an awesome establishment in the Red.
