MC2-HP 40 Feb. 8, 2003: Word from Adam Henry

Post by Gretchen »

hello all,

it is finally that time to start spreading the word about the mc2 event at
hp40, alabama feb 8, 2003. this years event will be bigger and better than
ever with more prizes, cash, and better owners of the park. the comp will be
ran similar to sand rock, boat rock, or hound ears but with a little twist to
minimize the local advantage. non-locals (been to the park at least 6 times)
will have their top 10 problems to tally into their score whereas locals will
only take their top 8 completed in the 5 hour time limit. the categories
will be open, advanced, intermediate, recreational, and old man (40+).
prizes will be given to top 5 in open and top 3 in all other categories. we
will have at least $1000 for the open winner, but i will not specify the
amount until i have a feel of what the turnout will be. cash prizes will also
be given to 2nd-5th in open as well as top places in other categories. the
cost is $45 (day of the event)/$40 (pre-register) for open, and $35(day
of)/$30(pre-register) for all other categories. this gets you entry to the
park and a t-shirt. observers will pay the day use fee and camping will not
be included in the cost of the event. sponsors this year include the urban
outpost, horse pens 40, la sportiva, five ten, blue water, misty mountain,
the north face and many more. check out modump.com
or seclimbers.org for specifics on the
event. contact me (ahenry1966@aol.com) asap if you want to pre-register.
please forward to every boulderer you know to come out and support this
event. all proceeds will go directly to the park in order to keep it open to
bouldering. as many of you know who have visited the park as of late, we
are the largest user group in the park. it is up to us to keep it open so
please help out. check out hp40.com for more info
on camping and directions.
