derby festival marathon -- 4/29/06

Post by redpointron »

after lurking around for some time i have noticed that many who frequent this site run (whether they’re serious runners, they just want to stay in shape, or they, simply, like hold hands and bounce at stoplights  ).

anyway…

i was never a runner and, having never pinned a number on for any length of race, ran the kentucky derby festival marathon this past april. truly an amazing experience which i plan on repeating in ‘06 and even convinced my wife to do the mini (which runs concurrently with the full marathon) next year.

figured I would throw it there (well in advance) to chum the waters, let folks mull it over and make a decision with plenty of time to still train…

check it out…

it's close to home. just a dash of hills. maybe even some training runs on courses with several stoplights.

who's in?

regards

I tried to run it in 2004, but broke my ankle and couldn't.

If the hills are too much, try the Indy Mini Marathon (same weekend or the weekend after). It's flat other than the entrance/exit to the Speedway track.

Cycling is a lot more fun. You go faster, farther, and eating and drinking is no problem. If you are a couple, then a tandem takes out any differences in fitness levels.

Cycling sucks. Sack up & go running.

I run, but cycling is a lot more fun. As long as your bike fits you get a lot fewer injuries cycling.

I prefer biking as well. Especially in the woods, trying to catch a dog.

I love cycling. I hate running, which works out well since I can't run. Bad patella
