would you agree to a ban on chalk on fs land?

yes, the access offsets the inconvenience

chalk ban

Post by Paul3eb »

if the forest service said we'd be allowed to climb and bolt on fs land but only if we didn't use chalk (and obviously avoided arch sites), would you be for it or against it?

ps: as far as i know, this isn't the main point of contention with regards to access in the area.. i'm just curious if people would make the sacrifice if it were ever offered.

Sure, if all those car camping partyers would agree to leave their beer and toilet paper in the car when camping in rockshelters.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

i am a little full..

i'm just curious. i've heard about chalk bans elsewhere and i wonder how well they would be received in this area if it were ever proposed. i'm always curious about what sacrifices people are or aren't willing to make.

seems to me that if the FS bans it we don't have much choice now do we?

looks like people will be doing more winter climbing.

I'd give up chalk if it was banned. It's just a crutch for me anyway. Sometimes I chalk up before tying in when I'm doing something hard (for me).
