Should climbers clean their tick marks at the end of the day?

YES, I'd like to figure the climb out on my own.

YES, Everyone should clean their tickmarks except me because I'm so much better than all you people you'll never be able to climb what I'm working on anyway.

NO, I can't climb without visual help from those that went before me! And while you're at it, stand at the bottom of the climb and scream up beta about where each appendage should go next.

Tick marks?

Post by Alan Evil »

So would you rather people clean their tickmarks off routes at the end of the day or not?

not a fair question.....you front loaded it....of course most people want the tick marks removed, but now you need to decide how big and which ones. remember, chalked hand holds are cheating as much as tick marks if you are one of those who says "I want to figure it out on my own"....on well run routes at the Red, there truly is no on sighting.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.

I don't really care. It's not like I'm out there doing some cutting edge 5.15-5.16 lines where it would really matter if I onsited or not. By the way........I noticed that the grade of 5.16 is almost here. Damn I suck.

What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

Tick marks? In the Red? Right. Every damn pocket within 10 feet of a line of bolts is ticked.

Instead of bitching about it, do one of two things. Don't climb outside, or on your way down brush away the tick marks.

I think people already had this conversation.

So how about the option: I put up tickmarks on a regular basis, sometimes I clean them off, but most times I don't remember.

But whining is so much fun. You get to puff yourself up with loads
of moral outrage and righteous indignation. Try it sometime. I
know you'll like it!

Sarcasm is a tool the weak use to avoid confrontation. People with any balls just outright lie.
