Just wondered if anyone out there had ever been a property manager in their lifetime....or even like an RA or something in college.
This is all new to me - it's really challenging and it has it's fun parts....I'm pretty much my own boss, which is always cool and there are lots of "interesting" people to deal with and encounter, rarely boring...however, all those "interesting" people know where we live, since I am an onsight manager...that means people knocking on your door at midnight because they locked themselves out of their condos or whatever...dealing with the guy that has received an eviction warning because he stands outside his unit naked and occassionally pees himself...and so on and so forth. Living where you work is interesting too...the morning "commute" downstairs is nice, but it's hard to get away from work too...I can take a nap at lunch time real easy, that's nice.
Anyone have any experience with this? Just wrapping up my first month on the job and thought I would share/ask for other stories.
and in general....how's work going with everyone else?

i worked as an RA for a year. it was a pretty taxing experience but also pretty rewarding. im sure your experience is very different mostly due to the difference in age of the residents and where you and they are in life. in the dorms most everyone is on the same page, just starting college, looking for friends. drinking is new and exciting. for me the hardest part was being tied to the dorm 4 nights a week. i lost touch with alot of friends because i couldn't get out.
Sand inhibits the production of toughtosterone, so get it out and send.
You'd think...but really - not a whole lot different. I was never an RA, but I lived in a dorm for a bit...and I just keep thinking throughout my day - man this is like a big dorm - there is gossip and old people are so much worse about gossip than young people, I swear!! "So I see Dale has a lady friend now...yep, she looks a little young for him, she moved her suitcases in and everything...." Uh, Ms. Patterson, that's his daughter....pawilkes wrote: im sure your experience is very different mostly due to the difference in age of the residents and where you and they are in life.
Then there is the drama queens - the best was, one woman who wasn't going to be able to pay rent on time, came in and literally put her hand to her forehead, sighed and attempted to cry for me, and said she had two weeks, to two months, to a year to live. What was I supposed to say?

My son was an RA in the honors dorm at EKU. I asked him if the other guys got mad at him when he had to write them up or something. He said, "Mama! It's an honors dorm! The meanest thing I have to do is occasionally yell, 'Hey! You wanna keep those keyboards down?'"
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

Send a letter out letting everyone know that if it is not a huge emergency then there will be a $35 dollar fee after a certian time of the day, and in the letter remind them of the 24 hour number that they can call and leave a message. if you want give me a call stacy and we can talk more, cause you know I have been doing this shit for the last 8 years or so with my dad.
I was a Criminal Defense Lawyer in prison for 15 years and inmates and guards were pestering me all the time so I spent most of my time in the suicide cell. After I killed myself I came back as a fat old gumby climber wannabe living in the past and climbers are constantly pestering me with legal questions like" what is the meaning of life? or what should I be if I ever fucking grow up?"
So I am not sure if this helps or not but I think allah gave good advice.
