I started climbing at Devil's Lake, WI eleven years ago when I moved to Madison. I've been climbing at the RRG ever since I moved to Lexington six years ago.

Hey Folks, I have a question. Be fore posting a fully valid lead let me describe how I did it. The folks I met and climbed it with had placed a quick draw on the first bolt. Then I climbed to the shelf. Then placing a quick-draw on the first bolt of the upper face and put my rope through it before I pulled the over hang. So this probably doesn't count as a true full lead of Creature Feature. Your comments, appreciated.

I have climbed about 5 years. All except one day guided at Cathedral Ledge White Mountains was top roping. Used to boulder at lunch break near work at a place called College Rock in Framingham Ma. Real nice bouldering place. Then was gonna quit but read about a guy who started climbing after having a heart attack who eventually climbed the Matterhorn quite a few times. He started at 58, and I am 58.

Oh yeah! I was excited by his story because I had bypass in 1996 and Carotid arter operation in 2001, so his story really inspired me to keep going and work hard at staying on the planet. I need something to keep me focussed on eating correctly or else.

nice job mqad...to answer your question....any way you want to post it, if you are comfortable with the style in which you ascended the route, then it is "all good"....

I suppose it depends...judging from the results of this site's other polls:
'Poll: Is gym climbing, real climbing?'
http://www.redriverclimbing.com/viewtopic.php?t=4101
I'd have to take out the first couple months of climbing, since that period gym climbing doesn't count.
Fortunately, judging from the results of:
'Poll: Does toproping count as climbing'
http://www.redriverclimbing.com/viewtopic.php?t=4647
I don't have to take out several months...
Although, when I get down to it, I don't own a westy (
http://www.redriverclimbing.com/viewtopic.php?t=5156 ).
So, I guess I've been not climbing, off/on for 4 years...maybe 5
(disclaimer...I am bored today & have nothing better to do with my time except read through old posts & scavange the Internet for climbing pics...oh, and look for different jobs)

Hey mqad,
Some would argue stick cliping the first bolt doesn't count as a lead, but my argument is usually followed by. "It's not the fear of falling while clipping the first bolt its explaining to my kidds that I can't work for a few weeks becouse I was selfish and broke my leg. So to answer your question you had that climb from the start, but before you started no one knew what to expect and proceeded with the safest alternative.

And if you ever want to do it from start to finish drop me a message We're down there twice a month year around typically.
