I'm looking for some instruction on how to climb outdoor. I don't have any equipment and have only limited indoor experience. If there is anyone in the Lexington area that would be interested in helping me get into climbing in the gorge, please let me know.
Thank you,
Jacke

Check out redriveroutdoors. They can rent you shoes and they also have some used stuff for sale. You can hire a guide for a day or half day. Or, rent/borrow some gear and try to meet up with some of the people here. If you are able to, UK also has a climbing wall that you might be able to check out.

jackenator, please ignore 512OW, he's probably just pissy because he found out that young'n was flashing all his projects this weekend. including 512's girlfriend. doh! (just kidding, in case it wasn't obvious but please still ignore him. he's filled his niceness quota for the month and will be unbearable from here on out.)

do you climb in a gym or know anyone that you trust who is an experienced climber? not that i did any prep work before i really started climbing outside but there are some good books out there of various lengths that would give you insight into what to look for in being safe. for me, safety would be a prime thing to keep in mind when asking to learn how to climb outdoors especially if you have limited experience indoors as well. a guide is a good way to start and there are several in the Red if you don't know anyone otherwise (RRO, True North are 2 who read/post on this bored) because they have experience AND equipment.

otherwise, bring lots of beer and a willingness to become someone's belay slave.
