Any opinions on the routes up there?
I was looking at Full Moon and It Ain't Over Yet and was hoping to head up there this weekend and hopefully chase some shade.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Dirty and denuded Half Moon rock is not the destination crag that it used to be. It is a popular spot with rappellers and gerneral hanger's out. The routes there are, or maybe were, good but years of activity on top has erroded the vegitation and soil. Some of the routes are pretty dirty, but still worth the trip if you can hit it on a low crowd day (mid week?).

Full Moon is good. Take as many 4.5 s and 5s as you can get.Or just walk one like we did.

Fallout was a fine route a long time ago. Extreme angle liebacking on perfect rock down low, cool stemming on suspect rock higher up. One pitch, it was a popular toprope problem in the '70s. Don't know if the anchor tree on top survived the vandals.

The bottom part of Fallout is really really good. You can TR almost all routes on half moon but need a lot of webbing ..the first 20 ft of full moon is kind of dirty.
if you TR Fallout watch out for the swing if you fall .

I highly reccomend It aint Over Yet. An under-appreciated classic.

I agree, Pete. And aptly named.
