I'm looking to buy a new rope and was wondering what you guys would recommend. And, of course, I would like to find the best deal possible.

If it matters, I only sport climb.

i wanted a 70 meter rope for rapping down long routes and bought a blue water accelerator - it was a good rpoe pretty much but the sheath didn't last very long. had a mammut supersafe that handled very nicely right out of the bag - it never kinked once. real smooth rope - i think it went flat too soon personally. my best performing ropes so far have been sterlings with the exception of kinking some until they break in.

Wes, do you think the 9.8 will stand up to some abuse, and where would be the best place to find it?

My sterling ropes have always done well, and I am really rough with them. The 9.8 has done great since I got it a couple months ago.

I know all of you guys have ropes, but I still like to have my own, and even though I haven't been able to get out much this year, I have put quite a bit of mileage on the rope I have. And Scott's rope is never an option for me, I just don't like the sound of 9.4
