I am sure many people will get an even bigger ego than they already have after seeing the latest climbing magazine. The article that says the Red is one of the five best crags in America. Anyone else see this.

I'd have to agree.
What were the others?

the gunks, the new, joshua tree, and rifle.

they excluded red rocks and yosemite becuase they were not "crags" (too tall or something)

they did say it was in their opinion which was good.

The trad routes and Rock Wars especialy ,got honarable mention.
On a sadder note,Goran Kropp cratered and died on a rock route, when his gear ripped out.

I started his book tonight. I'm only on the third chapter - he hasn't even gone to Everest yet - but man was that guy incredible.

I was happy to see that 3 of the 5 were east coast.

And I have been to 3 of them in the last 2 months as well. I always thought Rifle was a roadcut-like chosspile. Guess I will have to check it out now.

Also, it was nice to see that the worst areas were places that had been heavily chipped/drilled/violated.

Well I stopped in Rifle and filled up with gas. When I was standing in the bitter winds and swirling snow I said to myself that nailing all 5 crags in 2 months was not worth the pain of climbing in the snow. and there is still time...
