best friend

what would you do if your very best friend in the whole world finally moved to the same town as you? what would you do if your very best friend moved to the the same town as you, but NEVER called you to let you know where he lives or what his phone number is? this is the same best friend that you played star wars hide and seek with for hours on end and then layed down in grassy fields and talked about the carolinas. what would you do?

my best friend lives on the other side of my county. we were like brothers growing up and he was best man in both of my weddings. if it happens again i'd get him then too. we never see each other - ever. i miss him and sometimes we talk on the phone and say "yeah let's do that, etc." but we jus' don't. lives have moved in different directions than our memories and hearts. lots of reasons for never getting together - he deals and wife works for the po po - i'm semi-clean now and he isn't. i quit drinking 25 years ago he drinks a lot. still love the dude more than my own brothers but never get to see him. life is some sad stuff sometimes - i feel ya 4sure. but if he or i really needed a big favor - we're on it.

I grew up in and still live in Chicago, and the core group of friends I've known since we were about 7 or 8 are still around in the City. But we really don't see each other that often. None of them actually climb, so that kills quite a few weekends and week day evenings. We all got together to stand up for one guy at his wedding in Vegas in March, and that was great to be together (even if it killed any chance to climb out there during that trip.... Yeah, I love these guys that much. (but I'm not happy about it)) Still, we're all here, but we don't talk or see each other that often. I think that part of the change comes from a shift of having all the time in the world as a kid, to being an 'adult' with a job and other responsibilities. (Oh yeah, and girls mess things up too.

)

Still, it's not the same as someone moving back to town and not calling. I'll bet that he thinks about you too. Break the ice, but don't expect miracles. Things have changed, but you're probably still better off with a little contact than moping. Plus you can let him know that diggum wants to 'go ahead and have sex with him'! (even as a former Best Friend, you owe him that!

hofo, in due time my love.

i can come over and we can load the mower into my car. we'll come to my house and you'll sit on the porch while i work up a sweat cutting the grass. you can drink blue moon and dream of a future together. afterwards i'll line my room with pillows and neil diamond posters and we can laugh and sing and cry while we discuss memories of different rest areas. then we'll fight with our light sabers and you can be my father, lord dark helmet.
