Cordellette

I've got about 20' of cordellette in my closet that I figured it was about time to dig out. The question is what do I do with it? Since I don't own any trad gear of my own, I don't expect to be equalizing an anchor with it any time soon. The main thing I want to use it for is backup/self-rescue/etc. So far I've not needed it, but I'm trying to figure out if I should just tie it or cut it into two shorter ones. Advice?

tie it and save it for the purpose you mentioned - it can be shortened if needed then.

Taking a knife to good cordage is a sin.

A c'lette doesn't take up much room in your pack if you wrap it up tightly. Leave it in there 'just in case'.
