The great weather brought about thirty cars to Muir yesterday (Saturday). So far, the parking is working out fine. We decided to enlarge the parking lot, which is only two weeks old and already undersized at 28 car capacity) to accommodate 40 cars. Hopefully this will be done in the next two weeks.
Climbing visitors seem to be spreading out to the 180 or so climbs so that crowding at any one particular wall is not a problem.
Please help by parking your cars all the way to the edge of the parking lot so that it can accommodate two rows. Yesterday, the first car parked back about six feet; this made it a bit tight for two rows.
A VERY important point here: PLEASE drive slowly!
The lady who owns the overflow parking area has had grandchildren down at here cabin playing on the road. Several cars came through very fast and upset her quite a bit.
PLEASE SLOW DOWN! This will make her happier and it will keep the parking area open at the end of the road. It will also help keep the dust down when it gets really dry.
Thanks.
Rick

I heard that some more ATVers "got lost" this weekend down there and failed to notice the many "Absolutely No ATVs" signs. One unlucky rider lost his ATV when he encountered a steep section of the trail and his machine went over the edge and into a deep ravine.

I don't like ATVs. Never have seen one that gives a damn about the ground they're tearing up as they ride around like a pack of feral apes.
And that's coming from a Jeep driver. It is possible to ride offroad and not destroy the ground you're travelling on. www.treadlightly.org

Sarcasm is a tool the weak use to avoid confrontation. People with any balls just outright lie.
