I've heard the same damn thing about every doctor recommended to me and every city I've been to.....including where I am right now (Addison, TX)!

_____ has more restaraunts per capita than any other city!
_____ is a great surgeon/sports medicine doctor. He works on the (name your favorite sports team) players.
_____ has the highest percentage of gay people than any city in the US.

Any others?

It was told that one of our neurosurgeons supposedly worked on Christopher Reeves after his accident.

When asked about it, he stated, "Nah! If I had worked on him, he'd be walking."

People like to build up their docs and their hometowns.

Oh...another one:
(fill in local successful artist/musician) was always told by his teachers that he would never amount to anything!

Seriously, would a teacher really tell a student that they wouldn't amount to anything? I think people make so much shit up just to tell a good story it's amazing.

Why not? That way when they grow up and never amount to anything, they won't be disappointed. They'll say, "yep, this is exactly what they said would happen".

I never would say that, but I think some teachers use it to motivate students, they say it usually works...some how I don't believe them.

Don't you remember gettin yanked out of class by the hair of your head and after getting a good thrashin with a 10 pound paddle listening to 15 minute long sermon on "if you don't straighten up you will never amount to anything"? .....or was that just me?
