FS: one of my too many ropes

Post by strum »

ok all I have finally decided not to be such a freaking pack rat and am letting go of one of my ropes. So here is the deal

Beal Top Gun
10.5
11 UIAA falls
7.4 KN impact (if I remember right, it is really low impact)
45m

this is a 2003 model. It has lived in a rope bag and been out 4 times, 1 leader fall (5 feet) on AWOL. generally a really nice rope.

I love the top guns (I own 3) the low impact force means less force on gear, and softer catches. the trade off is the rope stretches more.

this is a good rope in great shape. It was originally 45m, I did not cut it.

looking for $45 obo (only a measly dollar per meter)

I live in Colorado now, so I'll have to ship it... sorry

ya, a bit, but when you think about it, it is only about 15' shorter than a 50m.
I am supprised the number of climbs it works for.
Think about it, how many climbs, as a percentage of the whole, are longer than 70 feet at the red. Some are, but most arn't

ok, let me amend that, I checked.. 349, one pitch routes greater than 70 feet.
However, that number goes only goes down to 295 for one pitch routes that can be done with a 50m.

So in the entire RRG there are only 54 routes that can be done with a 50m that cannot be done with a 45m
that equals roughly 4% of the climbs in the online guide.

but hey, it is cheap
