Nerve damage?

I have a finger tip that continues to be numb. It's been about a month since I did the damage. If I press it in the right spot it feels like a shock. What do you think? Am I damaged for life?

what have you done to "baby" your finger? that's terrible kneebar!
yeah, and paul does have the magic touch. but make sure when he kisses it it is under a full moon with the tree frog chirping and a fresh dew on the ground after you have just split a bagel.

Yes...that sounds like nerve damage. The shock feeling or a burning feeling is nerve damage. I have it in the left side of my body & very severe damage in my lower leg & foot.
Did you crush the finger?

I dislocated my ankle years ago so bad it slid out and I stepped on several nerves severing them. I have several spots on my foot where I can't feel much.

nerves take a long time to heal. I crushed my arm and it took the nerve from my elbow to my fingertip about 9 months to heal. It healed progressively along it's length, starting from the elbow and downward. I'm guessing your finger will heal in time, but maybe not. I have permanent nerve damage in one of my legs. Maybe recovery depends on how long the nerve is impinged?

I did the damage on a finger crack. Left index finger, I think I did it during a thumbs down move, left hand high. What a dumb-ass, route was so over my head (grade). Must have been trying to impress paul

Haven't really done anything to "baby" it other then not climbing for the last few weeks, will it do any good to not use it? Should I ice it, heat it, stretch it, beat it, smash it, or just not worry about it?

be careful with it. Use it but be aware of what you are doing with it. You don't want to hurt it anymore than you already have, which will be easy to do since you can't feel it. Note that I am just guessing based on my personal experience... if it turns out that I am wrong, you are a dumbass for listening to me.

Oh I can feel it when I hit the right spot just above the second knuckle!
