My partner and i are currently planing a road trip to indian creek for the month of june. Ive been trying to find an accurate place to check the average tempatures for the area, Moab averages about 101F and Monticello, which is 30 miles away form the creek has an average of 78F! WTF?
If there is anyone out there who has been to the creek in June please help me and let me know what the weather is like!
IS it worth it to climb there for the month of june or would i be better of going somewhere else?

Was there at the end of May and had to spend several hours a day hiding in the shade. You can chase shade there, but it will be melt-your-shoes-hot in the sun. If you want cracks, then I would go to vedauwoo that time of year.

Went in July of 1998 and it was beautiful. We climbed early in the morning. Took a break during the hot part of the day or found shade in one of the side canyons and then climbed again in the evenings. Ideal conditions.

I have been to Moab in July and I have been in October. Go somewhere else or wait to go to Moab in the Fall. Summer in Moab is do-able but I don't recommend it. If you do go, take the time to acclimate to the heat (just as you would acclimate to high elevations). 117 degrees can be deadly, which is the temperature we had one day there in early July. The rest of the days weren't much cooler.

If you are really set on going there in June you can. I have been out there the first week and a half of June, it was hot but doable. You will just have to chase the shade. 90+ degree in the sun out there is way hot.
First couple of weeks of June shouldn't be too bad, not much for humidity so that won't be a problem. The creek is going to be 5-10 degrees cooler then Moab since the creek is at a higher elevation (right around 5500) Monticello is slightly higher then the creek. That is why you are seeing the difference in temps. Locals climb year round in the shade, just depends on how you handle the heat. You will get a afternoon thunderstorm once in a while but the rock dries super quick.
I would get up and be at the crag just as the sun hits it, chase the shade and maybe take a long break towards the heat of the day. Then hit it hard towards evening. Nights will be comfy for sleeping not long after the sun goes down. I have been going there for the last 7 years, I've spent a month or more each year. Have fun, pm me if you want more info.
If I had a choice, I'd go in mid Sept.- mid Oct. its perfect!

i was out there mountain biking around that time last year and would start riding at 7:45am in order to be off the trial by 10:00. one day i had some problems, shit broke and i had to fix it, anyway, i didn't get back to the car until 11:30 or so and it was already 93 degrees. have fun. oh and check out the local breweries/bars, lots of fun
