i have actually run into articles like that before.

one of my favorites was a list of the best crags in a NY fashion zine. It listed the grand teton among others.

what gives journalists the idea that they can just make stuff up about things they don't know about?

it is pretty amusing though.

it's not that they make it up.. it's the old adage, "a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing". it's their jobs to know a little bit of everything but not enough of anything.. (ok, i'm characterizing a bit here but it's not all that far off)

That article is pure entertainment and the author is hardly a journalist.

Paul is sorta right on the journalist thing. You are expected to know a lot about a lot of things, but it better be right. I don't wanna get into a whole ethics and journalism debate (I'll be the first to say that journalism ain't what it used to be)...that is for anther thread, another day.
