famous holds

Post by Paul3eb »

so what are some of the red's most famous holds, whether for their own reputation or historical reasons? no sequences or beta spray please ;) i don't have quite the repertoire of climbs but these come to mind:

the flake hold on dave the dude
"the" hold on breakfast burrito
the aquaduct pocket on the same
the fuzzy undercling (though i still haven't been on it so i don't know what the deal is exactly)
mr. bungle's on the same

what if we include famous jams/locks? i guess this is a little tougher since jams/locks kind of feel the same wherever they are (though they're different for each person) but are just on different routes (pebbliness aside).. but i guess you could say that about face holds, too. a few that come to mind

the jam at the lip of harder than your husband
jam on the chockstone-type thingy of windy corner
armbar on specimen

I tried to think of holds on trad routes, and I couldn't really come up with any, other than maybe the little pocket in the Inhibitor as you're going into the chimney and the jugs on the lip while coming out. But then I realized that some people don't use those holds, so they're not necessarily famous.

I think you're digging a little deep with those 3 in your last post, Paul...

Hey Horatio-- did you know I sent the Inhibitor!?!?
