It could be for that subtle sense of outdoorsy romanticism between you and your boyfriend who would much rather be sitting on a couch in front of a plasma big screen picking his nose with a cheap beer in his hand watching the Cleveland Browns get killed by the Bengals instead of oogleing your gloriously sculpted ass tightened up by a cinched harness after your first send of a 5.10 you strived for just to get him horny long enough to get passed the three minute rule and actually give you the multiples you never had.

so those are our two choices..either climbing for all the wrong reasons, or climbing for fun? man, are you cynical or what? I love the piece, but you missed so much...all you talked about was the supposed wrong reasons to climb...

how about adding: as a gumby, watching that other person climb that 5.13, and silently promising yourself to someday look as fluid on the rock?

how about, setting a goal of climbing 5.whatever, and putting your heart and soul into it, because it beats the bar scene?

how about, admiring the person who does climb super hard, for their dedication and training, instead of secretly loathing them?

So there really isn't a sandwich at the top of the climb, is there?

um, just in case you haven't noticed..I doubt there are more than 1 or 2 "high end" climbers who even post on this board...the piggie definietion of high end would be those who climb 5.14 and beyond, and that ain't happening with this chuffer group....naw, we are all out to have a bit of fun....

Oh c'mon. What do you think the total number of 5.14 climbers in the world is? How often do those kind of people climb without an entourage, three photographers, and a videographer?

This reminds me of something. I've got a copy of Climber in my bathroom that has a headline at the top of the cover that says something like "Rodden climbs 5.14" and I always think it says "Rodan climbs 5.14." So what do you think Godzilla climbs?
