Hi,
I just wanted to post my thanks to Ynot (and to Huggybear) for helping this gumby get started in trad and sport climbing. If you didn't see the original post I asked if any experienced traddies wanted to teach a noob. Ynot said he'd be happy to. So I drove down on 3/17 and we went to Roadside on 3/18. I followed on Roadside and Five Finger Discount. I had a pretty hard time on those two as I had never crack climbed. Later we did C Sharp B flat. We did a few more routes too but I don't remember the names. Saturday we climbed with Huggybear up at Moonshiners. I followed Huggy on an easy 5.4. Then I did a mock lead on TR and placed some gear. After that we drove over to Buzzards Roost, and Huggy lowered from TR anchors and climbed a route there. All of the exposure overwhelmed me somewhat and I did not climb there. Sunday Ynot and I went up to Via Ferrata and did a couple of 5.7, 5.8/5.9 (hard start on that last one) sport routes. I led and cleaned my first sport route that day. It felt pretty damn good too!!
I met a lot of people and had a really good time. Hopefully I'll be able to get down there a few more times this season. I'm pretty sore and my shins and hands are pretty cut up but I had a fantastic time.
Thanks again,
Al
