This thing is 160 feet and every week somebody climbs it and extends the pipe that feeds it. They say it's leaning now...

I wish I hadn't found this site. I've been laughing for an hour now and I'm starting to think that iceclimbers may not be completely crazy. Just kidding. Ice climbers are nuts.

What's the deal with the it being too cold and the ice "too brittle" to climb? Seems like it would get harder as it gets colder.

"The tower has developed into one of Fairbanks' top winter tourist attractions. The Alaskan Alpine Club's Web page, which features photos, background and updates on the giant spire, receives almost 150,000 hits a day, said Buchanan."

for some reason, that makes me so sad..
