Climbing in China

Post by GWG »

I just found out I'm headed to China on March 18th. I'll be there for 2 weeks and will have the weekend free. I am going to be staying in Huang Pu which is near GuangZhou.

Anyone have any information about climbing in that area? I'm beginning to search the web for some info however if anyone has any details, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

GWG

I know nothing about climbing in China. However, I can tell you that Tsing Tao is brewed there and it is one of the best beers in the world. FYI it's pronounced Ching Dao.

Good luck and happy climbing. Watch out for Mongolian hordes.

Don't they just sort of fly around, kung fu style over in China? Or is that Japan? The Chinese are short and all wear the same clothes with those funny hats, right? And there are so many of them they could overrun the world and we could use up all our bullets and there are more of them than that, right? Or is that Korea? No, I think they're all starving and poor... Hmmmm. I don't think climbing is allowed in China unless it is for the glory of China. So they may shoot you if you try to climb there for the enjoyment of it. Plus they'll confiscate your gear when you hit the airport. "No! No climbey fo' stupid American! You keep fat American ass on ground!" Bad scene, dude. I'd stay home if I were you. Better give me the tickets and I'll pretend to be you. It's the least I can do.

My friend Eman Lacoste is living in China. He and others have been developing a couple of areas. I just recieved 3 emails from him with information about some climbing in China but I need to sort through them. Here is what I have, with directions to to like, 3 routes:

It's not a racist comment, no worries...

1. Bolshevik, Marxist, pinko, red, bolshie -- (emotionally charged terms used to refer to extreme radicals or revolutionaries)

At least, I would hope it wouldn't be seen as racist. Politically charged? Yes. Racist? No. Just derogatory slang terms for communists... I call my commie friends pinkos all the time;)

Cool LLR? 8)
