Current total number of sport climbs in the Gorge.

Post by Sco Bro »

Johnny's guide book lists a little over 300 sport routes, some of which are closed such as Pocket Wall. So what's the latest count on the current total number of sport routes, not including the ones that are closed (Oil Crack, Pulpit), super secret or booby trapped? My guess, without any basis for it, would be around 700.

I know the number changes daily, especially with the Southern Region and Muir. Anyone who guesses within 25 before Ray gives us a definitive answer wins a bad belay from me and a potential ground fall on the route of my choice!

546 minus the closed areas of Oil Crack, Arena, etc. (about 65 routes according to the online guidebook) minus misc errors in the online guide.

(around) 471.
