honeymooning...

Haas and I are getting married late July and are taking our honeymoon in December during winter break. We were planning on going to Thailand until plane ticket prices skyrocketed so now we need a new plan. We were thinking of Mexico or the British Virgin Islands (haven't looked at ticket prices for the islands yet so those may be out of the question)... Does anyone have any other recommendations for where to spend about two weeks climbing, paddling, whatever (on a fairly cheap budget?)

whats cheap? try travelocity for thai tickets. i got mine last aug. for 675 roundtrip. other suggestion for cheap are J-tree(beautiful), Hueco, Baja, and my favorite place for cheap fun, inbetween my mama's thighs. the first three for sure are good

El Potrero Chico is a nice place, you can live like king and queen for pretty cheap by most honeymoon standards. Great multi-pitch climbing. Some other areas and hot springs nearby. Less then an hour drive to Montary, which has all kinds of cool deversions. You might also think about NZ, although that might be kindy pricy airfare. It will be mid summer there, so maybe a bit hot for climbing, but surfing and other things to do as well.

don't do it!!! oh wait...you're both climbers? that's ok then.

you have plenty of time to get a good deal on tickets. have you tried an agent? they can usually get you the low down on the all inclusive type trips. rei has the package stuff too but that's hella pricey.

oh & congrats!

Vegas is certainly a great option. There is plenty of climbing in Red Rocks and you can easily get to the climbing around St. George for a few days. You can find rooms for cheap espically if you opt for the VRG and surrounding areas.

Thanks, everyone, for the ideas....we've spent some time at Red Rocks and may end up going back there at some point along with J-Tree and Hueco since we'll be in Colorado as of August. For now I'm going to scour the cheap ticket sites and try to find some good deals for far away lands... :D
