What is a good size haul bag to get? I am looking in using this haul bag as my hiking pack as well just to go to the crags or extended trips. I was looking at the Black Diamond Huey Duffle sacks like the 100 L or 150 L and I was curious if that would be good to haul considering that the bags is also a duffel. I wanted to buy a hiking pack but I might as well get a haul bag when I can use it for all purposes.

Wut yall tink?

is it a jungian thing, the duality of the duffel haul bag, go for it, I don't see how they could possibly be a comfortable carry but it should say Black Diamond in bold letters across it so thats got to be worth something, and for God's sake be careful out there, theres alot of women drivers

I have a Metolius half dome that I've used for years. Like it a lot, good points are: its tough as hell (nice for rodo-thrashing), you can dump your shit in like a big garbage can and its somewhat waterproof, you can ride down slippery hills on top. Its like 7600cu. in. Good size for a trady.

Drawbacks are: It isn't as comfortable as a backpack but not too bad, The suspension isn't as good as a backpack, it weighs 8 pounds, and what you need is always in the bottom.

They make haul-packs now, from what I have seen of them they are not nearly as burly. I have a BD 60L Huey but I just use it for clothing, no waist belt, nice for airports though with the shoulder straps.

Hope this helps

I had an army pack that had those same drawbacks. The worst being, every time I wanted something it was on the bottom. It was really uncomfy on hikes.

That's odd. I have the A.L.I.C.E. Pack, Medium and it's pretty good, and pretty comfy. The only problem is that it's medium, you can't haul around a rope, trad rack, water, food. The A.L.I.C.E. pack Large will be my next one. With the frame of course.
