I just recently started getting really interested in climbing, I have been to a gym that is an hour away and i have talked to a few people down in New River Gorge area. But my question is what would you consider a good starter rack for sport climbing? I have 2 pair of shoes, bag, harness, and 6 QD. plus a rope. What else do i need or more of? I plan on climbing this year if i have to drive to the New River or the Red. I love camping so i will stay a weekend just to climb once. Any help would be appreciated.

As long as the person you're with has a few quickdraws, you should be all set. You probably want 10-12 of them just to be safe.

Well,I actually dont know anyone that likes to climb. All my friends are pretty much couch potatos i talked a few of them to the gym to belay me once. that was enough for them i figure that i can find some climbers that wouldn't mind helping me out or letting me climb some small stuff with them. And as far as rappelling, I bet i have rappelled of more rocks, buildings, bridges and out of more aircrafts than you could possibly hope to do.

Thank heavens he's a guy or we would have to rehash all the advice about keepers.

6 more draws, and a few bail biners and you'd be set

i'm surprised no one has mentioned having his own belay device.
pardon my ignorance, do rappellers use ATCs or figure 8s or what?
i assume also that your rope is dynamic.

I'm glad there is a "Sweet Piece of Ass" to catch my slips. Get a bleay device and oversized locking carabiner and learn how to use it.

Additionally chaulk bag with chaulk?
Sling for tying into top anchor bolts with extra locking biners before running rope thru anchor and rapping down.
Most rappellers use eights.
