Rock Quest Review

Post by J-Rock »

Last weekend I visited the Rock Quest climbing gym in Cinncinnati for the first time. I just wanted to comment to say how impressed I was with the facility, the staff, and the route setters.

The features were fantastic and the texture of the wall was awesome too. The routes were fun, well-marked, and accurate. I didn't even encounter any spinning holds. Most of all I was happy to find routes of all abilities that flowed well and were enjoyable. It was definitely one of the finest gyms I have ever visited. Some of the holds were a little bit greasy (but that's my only criticism). I don't know who sets the routes there, but they do a damn fine job.

Hell yeah. :) Tony Frey is the head routesetter there, and he does a fabulous job. Did you get on stuff on the lead wall/roof? That area is awesome for endurance. Sweet gym for sure.

We didn't get on the lead wall. It sure did look enticing though. How long are the routes that go all the way out the roof? Wow! We did climb on most of the other walls and bouldered a bit.

If you go up the back cave and out the roof, my guess is that you're doing ~90 feet of climbing. You and Squeeze should come out some shitty-weathered weekend!

Guess getting stronger and better doesn't appel to you as well?? Plastic is the place to torture yourself and get strong. And have a killer fun time as well. I miss the LR and CT sessions of the past, esp. on crappy weather days. But, there is hope in Lexington for me now.
