How was your weekend?

Post by diggum »

What did everyone do/climb?

It seems that monsoon season is upon us so let's ponder our memories of better days... :D

Zookeeper did his first trad lead this weekend...very smooth & confident. Nice going Z!

diggum did a WONDERFUL job climbing two routes AFTER she sprained her ankle!
She could barely walk up to the climb, but as soon as she was on the rock she came to life!

I had a pretty killer session at RockQuest on Saturday, and then got reeeeally lucky with the weather on Sunday. Most of the routes at Roadside were totally dry, and I had a blast getting on Jersey Connection for the first time, and making it to the anchors of Wild Gift (even though I had to stick clip past the move to the third bolt).

That's awesome that you guys got out, too, Chester, Zookeeper, and Diggum! :D Is your ankle going to be okay, Diggum? That sucks that you sprained it, but cool that you were still able to climb!

I went caving in southern KY, in a newly discovered cave down there. We were trying to push into a new section of passage, which required swimming/climbing up a river with roaring waterfalls in wetsuits, and then crawling for about 500 yards on our bellies through the tightest passages I've ever been in.

The coolest thing about this cave was that it has some of the best helictites in the entire world in it. Truly amazing, unlike anything I've ever seen. Helictites are these:

Does anyone remember that thread about caves from a year or so ago, where someone posted a link to a really long story about two guys who went caving? That might be kind of vague, but I remember the story being kind of eerie and intense, and I wanted to read it, because I never got all the way through it when it was posted.
