drink up..

but drink smart. hydrating is good but this one is for those of you who won't stop saying "drink something".. http://www.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/diet.fit ... index.html

..it gets really annoying.

"Hyponatremia happens when the body's sodium level falls below normal. People lose salt through their sweat, and overdrinking dilutes the sodium in the bloodstream, causing the brain to swell and push against the skull."

and that part is for all of you who avoid salt like it's the plague.. salt is good for you. just don't use it like sugar..

I took a First Responder course once and remember being told a story about a bunch of folks being guided through the Grand Canyon and getting water intoxication. They were drinking a ton of water because it was a really hot day and they knew the dry environment promoted dehydration. Well, apparently, the symptoms of WI are very similar to dehydration so the more they thought they were dehydrated, the more they would drink, all the while the guides were supporting them to drink.

People in mental hospitals will try to overdose on water too. I guess you *can* get too much of anything...
