I'm going to Atlanta next week for several days to spend xmas with my girlfriend. She's expressed an interest in hitting one of the gyms down there and doing some climbing. Any recommendations on which one?

I've heard that Atlanta Rocks is good, but I've never been there.

PM the Lurkist. A friend of ours moved down there this past summer. He's LOVING his local gym. He goes twice a week for two-hour sessions. Anyway, the Lurkist might remember the name of the gym.

Lists 5 or so outdoor climbing areas near metro Atlanta.
I hear Boatrock is great for bouldering.
Wallcrawler on Dekalb avenue

Just happened to be lurking around and saw this post...
Hi Sprawga--LOVING it might be pushing it just a bit. In terms of gyms--yes it is great, but also just enough to get depressed about not being near real rock. I managed to keep out of a gym for several years, and now look at what has happened--going to the gym is about all I do...
But seriously, the Wallcrawler gym on Dekalb avenue about 3/4 mile from Little Five Points is an outstanding gym (in my opinion). The scene is usually very good, and the bouldering area is outstanding. There are some leadable walls as well, but I haven't roped up so I can't really speak to the routes. They do look OK however...
If you want more specific directions let me know.

Some who's girlfriend isn't comfortable climbing and wants a little extra security until she gets the hang of it.

Gyms are better anyway, nothing beats gym climbing anywhere, ever.

What about it? I know she wants to spend a bit of time at Stone Mountain as well.
