I just gotta say these guys (and gal) were so totally cool to give us refunds on our membership dues (I got mine today). They went out of business and now, six months later, when they really didn't have to, they stayed true to their word and produced refunds. I am *very* impressed.

Thanks Steffi, Brooke, and Brian! :)

Nice. You are lucky. Too bad there is no gym in Lex though.

Yea, you're right about that! However, wheels have been turning to get climbing to the climbers, though. The co-op is still in progress and Ray and I have begun building our home walls this week. We should be done in a few weeks. We'll have to post pics when it's done. :)

Can anyone explain why gyms keep closing in Lexington? It seems as though there would be enough interest to support a gym.

Maybe if there were a multi-purpose facility: fitness center, internet cafe', coffee shop, laund-r-mat, bar, and of course, lots of radical walls.

A full service location where it has something for everyone.

I think Lexington Rocks put Climb Time out of business and then it failed because it's expenses were too high. From what I understand, after they had moved in, the landlord decided he wanted the space for student housing and upped their rent in an effort to get them out (there was a great restaurant in the same warehouse that had to close because of this).

I may be outta work in a year or two. It might be worth my while to come down, spend my pension on space and build me a gym. I'm not really interested in gettin' rich with it, I just like the thought of having a place where people can come and hang out, climb, socialize, and enjoy themselves.

Have been to countless gyms all over the place and I'd try to bring the best of each into this place.

Knowing that climbers are often living on a shoestring budget, it'd have to have inexpensive memberships, cheap food, cheap drinks, places to crash for the night, clean showers, etc.

I know, make the memberships based on climbing ability. Climb at 5.10, receive a 10% discount, 5.11, a 20% discount, 5.12, 30% discount, etc. The more you climb, the less you pay.

I need to stop thinking and get back to work!

I believe that we live all over due to the wonderful sprawling nature of the city. That is why I liked LR, downtown made it pretty fairly accessable for most everyone. It was only a 20 min walk at most for me.

Nope. Just that LR was more convient for me commuting wise.
