Muir Valley trad routes

Post by busty »

2 questions:

Is it best to follow the trial in the direction of the Sanctuary to find Crack'n Up? I mistakenly thought it was a lot closer to the 10 Wall that it actually is.

Does the unknown 5.8 at Tantroft have anchors?

1. Yes, it is better to follow the trail right from the Sanctuary to find Crack'n Up. In the future there might be another trail that goes directly to the Inner Sanctum. It is about a 5 minute walk from the Sanctuary. Crack'n Up isn't the same quality as First Fall or Tradisfaction, but it does have some fun moves.

2. The first ascent party on that unknown 5.8 rappeled from a tree with webbing. I believe they later returned and added a bolted anchor before the top of the cliff, but I have not yet received any specific information (or a name) to include it in the guide. The "ED" route over a the Stadium is a fun 5.7 too and it has a two bolt anchor.

Enjoy!

Cool. Thanks for the info. We weren't sure whether there were anchors on the 5.8, so we decided to come back and climb the 5.8 and ED another time. They look like pretty nice routes.
