Have any of you ever torn an ACL? What was it like?

It was just like tearing an MCL, but anterior instead of medial.

Maybe the administrater of this board would be willing to install a spell-checker for those who cannot do the job on their own?

I think what 5.12dickmeat meant was it is like a PCL tear, but it is anterior and not posterior.
To the point, your knee would feel wobbly. The ACL stabilizes the joint from sliding forward- The tibia sliding out forward from under the femur. You can be suspicious of the injury to the ACL (ant cruciate (crossed) ligament) by the mechanism of injury. Sudden loadings of the limb with the knee locked or very extend and the knee hyper extending backward will do it with regularity.

No, I meant MCL...cuz I've never heard of PCL. MCL is medial collateral ligament or something, right? Regardless, they both feel the same kinda pain, or so I've heard.

I partially tore my ACL this past Spring. It hurt like hell when I did it, and was sore for a couple weeks. From what I understand though, if you completely tear it, you will regain mobility faster than a parital, but it will be very unstable.
