Many people are advocating leaving doors unlocked so windows are not broken. I think that is reasonable. Just leave everything at home that is valuable and not essential to your climbing or pack it to the crag. Use common sense by not leaving anything out where is it visible to potential thieves. As for locking doors, I usually leave one open and lock the rest. I always vote for ambivalence (not at all the same thing as ambiguous or unsure).

have there been break-in's at the solar collector/ dark side parking lot? I assume you are talking about the motherlode parking lot since that one is hit all the time.

Why don't these break-in thread get more specific?
Its painfully obvious that if you park your car along some dirt/gravel road in the woods there is a chance that it won't be found in the same condition that it was when you left. Call it one of the risks of climbing, either way it sucks ass. I just wish we could get in the habit of being more specific in our posts of such henious crimes.
As always if you have any probelms with break-in in and around the Gorge please contact local law enforcement and the FS over in Stanton. The FS law enforcement guys (unfortunatley there are only two of 'em) are way cool and like to know about trends in the break-in community.

I was in the SR Saturday and came in through Fixer Road and down the creeks. There were some unfriendly hunter, family types camped out at the spring where people usually camp.. I waived and they jus stared back - really unusual for country folks. They had four wheelers and displayed an assortmnet of shotguns throughout their camp. Several of the kids were fourwheeling in the direction of Solar Collcetor, etc. It all could be related.

Hey,
Miguel has lockers to store your valuables in. He doesn't have locks yet, but he may let you use them if you bring down your own locks. Just let him know you are using them.

The lockers are cool! big enough for a trad backpack. Bring a lock along. Thanx goes to Chester and T Frye for them.
