Anybody know anything climbing wise about this area? Looking at going down there for a few days to recreate and was hoping to climb on some rocks. I've checked rc.com, and there doesn't seem to be alot of info about the areas listed. One thing for sure there is some sorta rock down there. Any info on climbing southwest VA, Jefferson Nat Forest / Mt Rogers Rec Area, would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to PM or e me if you don't wanna spray about super secret areas in a public forum.

I went to college in Southwestern Virginia. We nearly always climbed at the New River Gorge... There's some climbing near the VA/WVA line (in WVA) at Bozoo/Bluestone Lake State Park which isn't bad. There's also climbing near Roanoke, Virginia at McAfee's Knob (bouldering) as well as a place called Dragon's Tooth and another place I can't remember. I don't have any useful beta on these places, but maybe this will get you started. I also have no idea how close they are to Mt Rogers.

There is hidden valley near abingdon, but I think the owner closed it to climbing. It was an awesome place with about 300 sport routes, huge overhangs. It was off route 19 about twenty miles south of Abingdon. Don't know if it's still closed though. There's Backbone Rock, close to Damascus. It's top-rope only and pretty crappy.
