And people ask me why I'm holding off on BD cams. Well that and the $$ issue. And I don't do trad now. And I'm really to swamped to actually head out and climb frequently.

they've been talking about those cams for nearly 2 years now. Are they now available to the public, or did you see those at a trade show?

20% is quite a reduction in weight. Impressive. They had the big range. The lighter design will make them more competitive with other camming devices.

they do look nice--very nice. Too bad they didn't use the opportunity, while redesigning, to fix their sheisty trigger wire system. I had one pop off while leading a hard (for me) crack last weekend. Talk about a mind f*&$!

Lighter? Thats it. I'm selling my BD's and getting these. It adds up when you have over 20 BD cams.

Haha! I shouldn't laugh, though. A friend of mine finally bailed on a funky top-loading Dana pack he had and bought a new Kelty Redpoint. I've got an older version of the Redpoint pack that I have loved for years, but once I saw his new one I started seeing things wrong with mine, like small holes where the bottom is wearing thin, or a stubborn zipper. I'm almost certain now that I need a new pack.

They had to do the redesign because their patent ran out on the old design. Most people don't know that. Also, Black Diamond is currently in a lawsuit with Trango over their cam design... if someone has more details on that, it would be really cool.
