So anyone been to the Tower middle/late October? I'm wondering if it will be too cold for my wussy butt to be scraping my way up that thing or not.
Also if anyone has Rick Faulkner's current e-mail address and/or new phone number please PM me.

I climbed that thing last Christmas Eve and it was cold, but dry cold and not too bad. I wore socks in my climbing shoes and wore a hat all day. I also climbed it this past July and the heat was crazy. Way better in winter. October should be perfect though

Oh, and avoid the Durance route. It's far from classic.

Mid October is hit or miss, you may have unbelievable 70 degree weather or a snowstorm, really hard time to make plans in Wyoming but Kentucky is another story

Tradmike,
Are you sure you got that NOAA chart right? I doubt if the historical average high for the October 29th is 60 degrees, while the average for the 30th is 33 degrees. You might want to take another look.

Use it like a giant sundial and follow the sun or shade. I climbed it in July one year and it was a hot day, but quite pleasant in the shade.

Oh yeah, the Durrance Route is a great route and classic. It's possible to move very quickly since most of the belays are bolted. However, there are plenty of other routes that are equally enjoyable.
