Fitness Goals...
Fitness Goals...
Since I'm a boulderer and stuck in Wyoming until mid-October I am starting to really train for this winter.
I started a new workout schedule which includes a lot of running, bouldering and yoga. In fact I did some interval training today in GTNP, and it kicked my ass pretty easily but I was damn happy afterwards.
Now to measure my progress I found this super sweet pair of climbing pants on sale, however they are too small, so they have become my "goal pants".
anyone else have big goals you're working towards?

excellent point mia....you are correct. ~ Pigsteak
Good for you, Mia! I'm back on track after a long punky, sick, fat winter! I can really see a difference in my climbing as a result. When I reach my goal, I plan to buy myself climbing, biking, and yoga duds as a reward. Hang in there, those britches are calling your name!
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

I'm just trying to cycle and run as much as I can. I'm up to 8 miles in running (preparing for 1/2 marathons) and it's definitely benefiting my climbing. I should start doing yoga too.
My other goals: do more trad and bouldering. the goal is just to keep building on whatever I improve. This past summer has seen some major improvements.
Good luck fitting into your goal pants, Mia. It is amazing, and slightly ominous, what losing 5 or 10 lbs can do for your psyche.
Mostly I measure my progress in what climbs I can redpoint. The only other significant goal, as far as fitness goes, is losing 8 lbs. I've been trying to do it for a couple months. I do OK during the day but I find myself making midnight raids on the cookie jar.

Don't forget about changing your diet along with a good fitness plan, they go hand and hand. Together they offer an almost unlimited amount of progress where you don't get platued easly.
I'd like to increase my lung capacity and heart beat...more blood more oxygen. To do this I'll use yoga (strong focus on the breathing) and swimming which also has a lot to do with breathing and gets the heart going. Running isn't a good idea for me with my knee . There's also alot of training I like to do for sport climbing.
My goal is 5.12a/b sport and v4 bouldering by the end of the year. And over all wellness and health. Hope everyone acheives their goals.

n0ir, i have changed my eating, or at least trying... here at the ranch our meals are made for us but i can still make a lot better choices. i have cut back on sugar, fat and added more veggies....
i too need to improve my lung capacity and heart rate. i did a trail run today that was at a little bit higher elevation than my home and pretty hilly, needless to say it kicked my ass 8)
