Beware of enormous wolf spider under roof at the end of the second pitch of Diamond in the Crack on Jewel Pinnacle. This thing was as big as my hand and two inches away from my face on Sunday 8/15. It happened to be knawing on some small mammal at the time, otherwise I might not have survived. Good luck on an excellent climb!

If you fry them up with a little lemon pepper sauce ,they are tasty.

Yeah, there are big spiders on pretty much any trad route right now. I haven't heard of anyone suffering any bites, though. Usually you can swipe them off with a stick or a draw or something-- they look like pretty little brown and gray snowflakes as they float down to the ground...

I was bitten once on Arachnid. The bite area and surrounding tissues became badly infected and took well over a week to heal.

I think I can handle most any spider bite in the Red as long as it isn't a brown recluse.
But there are some pretty big spiders out there. More now that I remember in the past. Does anyone know what the ones are called that will sort of "click" and "rumble" at you?
How many spiders are known to "attack"/"hunt" rather than just bite in defense?

I bet your belayer really appreciates the fact that you are causing it to rain spiders down upon their head.
