Climbing In Boulder Canyon

Post by GWG »

Just spent the day with Christian, his son, and my son climbing in Boulder Canyon. Spent the day up on Happy Hour Crag.

Thanks Christian for the trad lessons. It was an outstanding day.

Look forward to climbing with you down at the Red.

What a coincidence, I climbed at The Dome on Tuesday. I was out there for work and hit The Dome after work when the heat died down. Prelude To King Kong to Gorilla’s Delight. The top out 5.9 is 5.9++++++++. It’s a must do if your in the area. Climbed in Eldo on Thursday, did the Bastille Crack with Andy who I hooked up with on the spot. We were both going to solo lead it so decided to team up.

We started at hte left end of HHC and started moving right. I got hung up on the 2d overhang which is on Twofers(I think). GWG finished the route by passing the overhang and when I cleaned I saw this huge jug that would have made the OH very doable for me. I cannot wait to climb there again. GWG started up the climb just to the right of Dementia which has 5 bolts and a hellacious runnout finish. We were going to come back to it but "so many climbs so little time".
For the record, I met GWG through this site and we never climbed together until Boulder Canyon. This is a great climbing site!!
Our boys got along well and we will all climb in the Red together soon.

Hey, lemmmon, I had a combination tan and windburn that lasted several days then all of my skin fell off(I molted).
We got back Sunday. The drive back was brutal. I ran out of anti-depressants and cried a lot. :|
