I have heard both yes and no. Does anyone know for sure?

Yes. There was one that was hanging out near the State Park for a few days a year or two ago. How many and where they are is another story.

If you go to the gift shop at the Natural Bridge Sky Lift, they have pictures posted that proves the existence of bear(s) in the Gorge.

Whenever I'm there, there's always beers.

Oh wait, bears.

I've seen bear footprints in Muir, but haven't actually seen the bear.

Not really. There may be a few, but you'd probably never see one. They are very, very, very scarce.

I see lots everytime I go climbing down there...big hairy things trying to climb up rocks and acting like animals....

Once at the Dome, I walked up to a house sized boulder and something went crashing through the brush on the other side of the boulder.Whatever it was it was big. Deer dont make that much racket.

I had a similar experience while trail running on a trail that starts at the Koomer(?) campground. Something was following me just up hill from and along the trail for a long time - close to a mile. Huge racket. I'm positive it wasn't a deer, but can't be sure it was a bear. At the time I was sure it must be, but couldn't see anything through the trees and brush. I'd love to see one! At least we know they aren't stalking us for our backpacks like they do in YNP.

That was me Sandy. I was wearing my pots and pans.
You can go back there again. I'm no longer allowed to camp at Koomers.
