That's GREAT!! Way to go Ang & Dave. I hate to say it but it sucks to be as experienced as Dave and your next line of competition is 14!

Remember, that's Dave's strength off the couch. The guy has no ego. He could probably care less.

Did you check out any of the other names of the Men that placed? The way you phrased it, it sounds like Dave had to compete in the kiddie division, rather then having a super strong kid compete with the men. And maybe you didn't notice, but the #2 woman is also pretty young.

You know it's gotta just eat those boulderer's hearts out that Dave Hume, a RRG sport climber, beats them at their own game. Funny, you'd think the bouldering specialists would win the bouldering comps and the weakmo sport climbers would get schralped...but no.

I saw that Wes. I just find it an interesting fact about the sport. That there is such a close relationship and apparently youth is an advantage in this sport. Look at marathoning, the older the better (to a certain degree). It takes years to mature a good long distance runner. I wasn't being NEGATIVE just pointing out an interesting thing.

Seems you are new here...and possibly new to climbing as well. When you are at the level that Dave was/is with "sport" climbing, you boulder pretty damn hard. Have you ever been on 5.14? I didn't think so. Your average crux for 5.14a is usually in the v10 range. Not often will you find an easier crux on one, and if you do, it is preceeded and followed by a hell of a lot of really difficult climbing to make the grade. So, before you go "bashing" what people that boulder think about top level sport climbers think, I would suggest you not only know your topic, but your subject as well. But, hey, that's just my .02
