Does anyone out there have one of those invisible fences/radio pet containment systems? If so: Do you like it? Does it work well? Any brand or feature recommendations? Any information would be appreciated.

We used Invisible Fence for years with our Golden. It was great. He got so used to it theven without his receiver/collar he would stay in the yard. Just do't let the bateries wear down befor replacement.

If you have a large dog it might not work so well. About 8 yrs. ago my aunt had one when she had her german shepard and I was watching it one day and had him on a leash. He wanted to go past the invisible fence, so he did. The shock just made him go faster and he pulled me along with him as I did a face plant in the grass.

Jamie! Great to see you at least in cyberspace. I forgot you had a dog. Anyway, here's a story for you:

Friends of mine had the invisible fence for their pug. They lived on a hill. One week it rained a lot. Towards the end of the week the dog was once again outside when it wasn't raining but the ground was really wet. The dog was really excited to be outside and started running around the yard.
The invisible fence had taught the dog well to keep within the yard and as this running mongrul came close to the property line it tried to stop and slid right through the invisible fence on its poor little butt. The dog was stuck running circles around the house on the outside edge of the fence, barking its head off, just wishing it could go home.
Poor little guy.

But other than that I hear they are pretty nice.

My dog has never needed one of those. She knows her boundaries and i guess she is to lazy to go anywhere else.

I've seen them work really well. My yard has a real fence, though, so my doggy stays in.

I walk around town a couple of days a month putting advertisements in people's doors and a funny thing I've noticed with those invisible fences is they're almost always for incredibly sweet natured dogs. I don't think they'd stop an aggressive dog. An aggressive dog might associate the shock with the person they're charging and then they'd run up and bite you right in the balls. I hate it when that happens.
