Sounds gimmicky. Expansion range is not really a priority for me in cam selection. But look at how steep the cam angle is. It must weight a ton as well.

I heard that Trango is coming out with a cam that covers the range of two camalots but weighs less than one

My initial feelis is that this cam looks like it goes against all climbing ideal of "keep it simple." To me, it looks as though they added 20 more parts that have a chance of failing, esentially adding links to a system. I agree that they look heavy.

The correlation between complexity and likely hood of problems was also my first thought...but I am sure these are all the arguments before cams became a standard

That was my thought. There's too much shit going on there. WAY too many moving parts that have to fit together. What happens when you get a little dirt in there?

Can you imagine how fun it would be to get that thing out if a wire broke? There's like 20 lobes that you'd have to dig out!

The cam also seems obsolete for shallow placements in the smaller range due to the length of the extended lobes.

It would seem though that in a deep parallel sided crack, walking might almost be eliminated in the smaller range for that same reason.
