silly question, but what keeps one of "them" from becoming a registered user?

Oh I know, some sort of screening question for all new users- like "Is Ho really gay?" or maybe a question like "are you employed by Charmane Oil?"

Nothing will keep them from logging on... but once they sign in Ray will give them one of his tasty cookies and their activities can be tracked.

How come I never got a cookie? All I ever get is a hard time.

You've got a cookie unless you threw up a judo block... the judo block can only be thrown up from the control panel under security or privacy, I forget which one.

Nothing keeps "them" from registering. But I have doubts that those yahoos would know how to use one of dem 'puters to that extent.

I usually keep my privacy thingy set to block all cookies unless I'm visiting a site that requires them like this one or banking and the like. I've found that spyware gets loaded even from sites like the NYTimes and the Washington Post. It's usually loaded from an ad window on those sites.

If you're not familiar with spyware, you should download spybot or adaware from www.downloads.com and run it. I'll bet money you'll find at least 40 bits of spyware (cookies that record everything you do and then transmit it somewhere). And if you've ever looked at any porn sites (not like anyone that's a member of this site would) you've probably got some fairly malicious spybots in your cookie jar.
