This summer we climbed Bedtime for Bonzo and my guru told me it was possibly the best view from the top of any climb. As I sat there I didn't doubt it. Just wondering what everyone's favorite view from the top is.

my favorite view was hitting the top of Scooby Doo one night just as the sun was setting. I turned around at the anchors, as I always try to do, and took it all in. It's still burned into my memory. It was so pretty. I'm sure there are better views to be had, but that sunset at that moment was the best I've had so far.
Why do so many people touch the anchors and then forget to turn around and enjoy the fruits of their labors? Even climbs that don't top out can have spectacular views.

Roadside Attraction by moonlight (though we were only half-way up).
I try to remind new climbers to check out the view at the top of any climb.

Yeah, it's easy to forget to look around. I have some pictures from the top of scooby doo that I took last fall. It's beautiful. I remember the smell of the damp leaves as I climbed to the top. Then as I clipped in I turned around and there it was, an amazing view of mother nature in all of her splendor. Golds, auburns, scarlets woven in a beautiful tapestry.... I keep these pictures in my desk to remind me of why I work...so that I can play where I love to be.... Thanks for reminding me. I'm smiling right now!
